Bildersturm– New Art Magazine OBJECTS releases N°3
Objects, the Journal of Applied Art, presents quarterly the newest developments in applied arts. In essays, features, critical reviews and exclusive image spreads, Objects searches for scientific and artistic answers to the question: What constitutes the applied arts today? Who are their most fascinating protagonists? After the first issues, which have been snapped up by now, the German-only N°3 will be published on October 15th, 2009 under the title: Bildersturm.
"Bildersturm" (Iconoclasm), the new issue of Objects, discusses the current cultural omnipresence of images. Is it really good for us to be surrounded by so many visual impressions, making it impossible for the eye to rest? Is the human gaze still an aesthetic authority which is allowed to decide what our surroundings look like (architecture, landscape, advertisement)? Objects questions whether it isn't the true task of designers and artists to focus again on the view and to design "visible contexts".
Objects N° 3 also reports on the design philosophy of David Polonsky's acclaimed animation "Waltz with Bashir", about futuristic tree houses, experimental Japanese dance, as well as portraying the young graphic designer Mario Hugo. Objects reviews current pop-theory and creates picture fireworks in the artists' portfolios.
