Application period

APRIL - AUGUST 2010

Eligiblity

Eligible applicants are illustrators, visual artists, graphic designers, animators, book artists, as well as students and apprentices. The minimum age is 21 years. A maximum age doesn’t exist, despite the name of the competition.

Submission Fee

A submission fee of 30 EUR or $48 US for administrative purposes must be transferred or paid online via Paypal.

Please state your full name and your personal ID for the bank transfer.

Bank transfer

The submission fee should be paid to the following bank account:

Account name: Illustrative e.V.

Account number: 2084540008

Bank code: 10090000

For international bank transfers:

IBAN: DE28100900002084540008 BIC: BEVODEBB

Paypal

Online transfers via Paypal are to be directed to: kleiss@illustrative.de.

We recommend this method for international payments, as fewer transaction fees interfere.

A receipt of payment completes the registration.

Transaction fees

International money transfers may incur extra fees (e.g. for currency conversion), which may differ from country to country and bank to bank. Transaction fees must be paid in addition to the submission fee. Please inquire about these fees at your bank or at paypal.com.

Paypal

Paypal is an easy and secure way to transfer money internationally online. Go to Paypal.com and register with your own personal account. By crediting your account and stating the recipient’s email address, you can transfer money. We recommend this service for transferring the submission fee for the Swatch Young Illustrators Award 10. More information at: www.paypal.com.

Application Form

The application form helps us to register your data correctly. This includes:

- Family name and first name

- Contact information

- Place and date of birth

Your data will be dealt with confidentially.

Personal ID

After registration, you will be given a personal ID number, which allows us to allocate the submitted work to the registered individual. Therefore it is important that you state this number when transferring the fee and when sending your PDF.

Your Project

Eligible for submission are:

- Images (single images or series of up to 20 works), installation projects

- Animation films

- Book Art objects

The work is to be submitted digitally. Pictures or documentation of films, books or installations are to be integrated into a PDF. The individual work is to be marked with a subtitle or with a separate list of titles (size, year, if applicable edition, technique). The PDF may contain additional information about the project and a CV.

Only personal work will be accepted, not commercial work.

Submit your work

After registration, please send a PDF directly via email to johanssen@illustrative.de.

Postal service submissions

We will not accept work submitted by postal services.

Additional supporting material may be sent by post if essential for preview purposes (i.e. DVD, CD or publications). If so, please include a print-out of your online application confirmation. Mailing costs will be borne by the entrant. Supporting material will be returned on request only and is subject to the following conditions:

- submissions from Germany must have a stamped and self-addressed envelope enclosed.

- submissions from abroad must include a EUR 10 bill (cash only).

Procedure

Please use the online application for all entries. In order to do so, the applicant must first register as a site user. More than one project may be submitted by the same artist, using a separate application for each work. This means that you have to register again to generate another personal ID and you will have to pay a submission fee for each project that you'd like to submit.

Insurance

There will be no insurance cover for the material received. Should art works be damaged through the fault of Illustrative, only the material value will be reimbursed.

Festival Participation

The conditions of entry are valid for Illustrative 2010. Nominated entrants will be invited to participate in the festival. It is the intention of Illustrative to show all nominated art works – this is however subject to the possibilities and limitations of the respective festival to do so.

Language

Works submitted must be in German or English, or have subtitles in either of these languages. Works in other languages must be accompanied by a text list in German or English.
