Maria Midttun is an illustrator from Norway, currently living and working in London. She graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth in 2012 with a degree in illustration. Alongside working as a freelance illustrator, she is a visiting tutor at the Arts University Bournemouth.
Using mostly monochromatic paper cut outs and charcoal drawings, Maria’s work is lo-fi and minimal. With accessible and inexpensive materials and printing techniques, she is interested in seeing what can me made with these limitations. Taking both abstract and figurative forms, the approach is spontaneous and intuitive.
Her work ranges from editorial illustrations, self published zines, album covers and digital installations. The past year she has also taken part in group exhibitions in London and Budapest.
